Human Trafficking is a horrendous crime that takes advantage of people through the illegal trading of human beings for purposes of forced labor, and commercial sexual/child exploitation. Traffickers tend to prey on the vulnerable, those who want a better life, have little or no employment opportunities, very unstable, and have a history of sexual abuse. With this being popular in society, anyone can easily become a victim. By being an undocumented immigrant, runaway and homeless youth, and a victim of trauma and abuse, you have already put a target on your back. The most popular victims are the undocumented immigrants due to the lack of legal status, language barriers, limited employment options, and social isolation. This type of practice forces an individual to engage in sex acts or labor against their will through coercive threats, intimidation, the elimination of any legal documents and violence under enslaved conditions. (â€Å"Global†) Women are often trafficked for the purpose of commercial sexual services, increasing their vulnerability to transmittable HIV/AIDS, sexually transmitted diseases, and brutality. They are held against their will in remote environments, these women have few avenues for assistance while they suffer vast physical and emotional abuse at the hands of their abductors. (â€Å"Global†) Human trafficking of U.S. citizens and foreign nations persist and thrive for various reasons, one is the low risk involved. This is when the community is unaware of this issue, when the government/community institutions aren’t properly trained to respond, and the biggest reason yet is when law enforcement does not investigate and prosecute the crime, human traffickers perceive little risk or deterrence to affect their criminal operations. Have you ever heard different peoples opinion on which type of school is better? The type of schools that Im preferring to is private, and public school. Through my four years at Butler High School, I know a hand full of people that went to private school from elementary until middle school. In high school, we usually live with our parents, and are therefore subject to their rules and regulations, which may involve curfews. Our teachers and the school administration are also in control of our time as we are basically given time schedules, and we are supposed to merely follow suit. For whatever activities we may want to join in, we must first ask the permission of our parents, and the school asks for their permission if they are school-based activities. Along with joining any activity, the money we will be needing for finance must be asked from our parents, and in that way, we are restricted to their bidding (Murray State University, 2006). In college, people usually move out and live on their own. Then, we are left to do as we choose to. However, this independence is accompanied by certain responsibilities, moral, and economic restrictions. For one, we are free to join any activity of our choice. However, we are also held responsible for the consequences of our choices. We are also left on our own to spend our money for whatever purposes, but we are also held responsible to pay for our bills and purchase our basic necessities (Murray State University, 2006). Essentially, these contrasts on personal freedom stem from the society’s growing expectations for us. In high school, we are deemed in need of guidance so our parents direct, and in that sense control, our everyday details. In college, we are expected to have learned from our high school experiences, and mature enough to act responsibly when left on our own. As quoted from the movie Spiderman, â€Å"with great power comes great responsibility.† College sure endows us with some degree of power over our own lives, but a great deal of responsibility comes along with it (Murray State University, 2006). Classes The second aspect in which high school can be contrasted with college is in the conduct of the classes. In high school, we are given class schedules, which consists of consecutive classes with minimal break times. In a week, the hours we spend attending those classes sum up to 30 hours, and this extend to 26 weeks. Classes are often in terms of one whole school year, wherein the teacher will closely monitor attendance, and matters of delinquency must be settled. We typically have around 35 classmates to endure the entire year with. We are also usually given the books we will need, and we are only concerned with passing our subjects, not graduating from high school because it is almost a sure thing (Murray State University, 2006). In college, things take on a different twist. You usually decide which subject you will take when, and thereby design your own time schedule. Only around 12 to 16 hours are spent inside the classrooms, and they can be during the evenings, typically sandwiched between vacant hours. However, these improvements are to serve the purpose of lightening the heavy coursework that college requires. Classes also practically last only half of the academic year, as the academic year is divided into two semesters. Knowing your classmates will be difficult since a class usually consists of 75 to a hundred students. You will have to allocate your allowance well or find extra source of finances since you will be expected to provide your own books, which will usually cost a lot. Attendance is not usually monitored, but your mentors expect you to know everything that’s going on in class. One of the instructions is to give Tylenol or Motrin for any fever above 100 F.According to the research articles, treating a fever is not always in the patients best interest. Fever has beneficial effects on the body and should only be treated in a certain population of patients.The paper will also discuss the physiological, Pathophysiological, behavioral and experiential responses to the phenomena of fever. A company named Access Health supplies the fever protocol used by the consulting nurse office. The company sells nursing call centers software that they use to triage patients symptoms. They arent used to diagnose, only to help the patient receive the level of care needed according to their symptoms. Physicians give the nurses permission to use these protocols to lessen the amount of calls they have to take care of. The fever protocol is divided into sections. The first section is emergent in which the symptoms are so severe they need to call 911 or go to an ER. In the fever protocol you would send a person with a temperature over 104 F to the ER. If the had a decreased level of consciousness you would instruct them to call 911. The second section is called urgent within four hours, in this section if a patient has had a recent surgery or procedure or have a serious medical condition such as diabetes or sickle cell and have a fever above 102 they should go to the ER or to their doctors office. The third section is called urgent within twenty-four hours. These patients can call for an appointment with their doctor within the next twenty- four hours for symptoms of a fever above 100 with no improvement with home care. The next section called non-urgent, those symptoms can be cared for at home such as a fever that goes down with Tylenol. The last section is called watchful waiting, which usually requires the patient just to be aware of worsen ing symptoms and to call back if they occur. If we triage the patient and feel they can safely take care of themselves at home, we give them home care that is in the fever protocol. We instruct them to rest, drink fluids and take Tylenol or Motrin for a fever above 100. We encourage them to continue to take the meds until their symptoms are gone. One of the physiologic responses to fever is increased heart rate. When a person has a fever, their metabolism increases up to seven percent for each degree increase above normal. The heart rate rises about ten beats per minute for each degree above normal. (Morgan 1990). Delirium is a pathophysiologic response that can occur with fever. It usually happens if the fever is over 104. Delirium occurs when the body has a rapid rise in temperature that doesnt trigger the compensatory cooling mechanisms. This phenomena can start a positive feedback situation in which there is an increased metabolic response to stimulate heat production. This response can continue to raise body temperature. By cooling the body too quickly, it can cause shivering and actually cause the core temperature to increase. Taking away clothing and blankets can cause the patient to suffer more stress, increasing more heat production and be more metabolically detrimental than the fever itself. The study found that it is better to treat the uncomfortable symptoms that go along with fever, rather than treating the fever itself. The study did say that if a fever is over 104, it is most likely an infectious process and should be treated accordingly. (Rowsey 1997). The article was an overview of several studies. Most the studies involved healthy adults, some of them were done in the critical care setting with seriously ill patient. A few of the physiological studies were performed on animals.
